News - Association Game - NEJCA V's Para Districts - December 19 2004. Bad news unfortunately. Another loss to the arch enemy. Para Districts batted first and made about 180 before rolling us for 70 odd. A few kids looked ok batting but there were several run outs. Para Districts started well and raced to 1/85 off 20 overs. We fought back and had them 6/112 but they got away at the end. From here the team has Christmas off and then they have a training session together before the CUSA Cup. Better results there hopefully! 2005 Cusa Cup Due to the excessive heat on Tuesday, the scheduled match against Para Districts South at Walkerville Oval has been moved to Wednesday. The match against Western Suburbs at Grange Primary which was scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to Thursday. Round 1 was played today with the NEJCA team scoring a magnificent victory over Para Districts North: NEJCA 7/190 Nick Beneke 36ret, Myles Wallace 50ret, Dylan Reinbrecht 36 def PDCA North 164 Sam Thomas 4/20. Coach Ben Tippett said that the team was going to "go all the way this year." 2005 Cusa Cup Update No 2. - Good news to report. The NEJCA Association team has progressed to the Grand Final and will play Western Suburbs at Grange Primary School, Jetty St, Grange tomorrow. The game will go from 10.00am until appoximately 3.00pm. The team won well in the first game before suffering a hiccup against Para Districts North in Round 2. Walkerille CC kindly hosted our game at their lovely oval but despite a good pitch, excellent outfield, a Subway tea and plenty of free drinks, couldn't deliver us a win. Today in Round 3 we played previously unbeaten Western Suburbs and clung on in a tight finish, doing well to defend our score of 110. This meant that Para Districts North, Western Suburbs and NEJCA were all tied on 2 wins and on the controversial Duckworth-Carter system we managed to sneak in to second position. Unfortunately both Para Districts teams have missed the Grand Final which may mean an overhaul of the rules for next season. If anyone would like to attend the game tomorrow to support the boys it would be much appreciated. Many thanks to Paul Creevy and Life's Tiles who have decked the team out in caps and playing shirts again, the difference this year that the team are also playing like good cricketers, not just looking like them. Cusa Cup Update No 3 - Unfortunately the NEJCA team has gone down to Western Suburbs by just 8 runs in the Grand Final, finishing our 40 overs at 8/116 chasing Western Suburbs 124. It was a tight finish highlighted by a 22-run over from Dylan Reinbrecht including 2 massive 6's. It was a good effort by the team to reach the Grand Final after not winning a game last season. Certainly the length of the bowling improved as we went on and the team spirit developed with each game.
